A report prepared for the U.S. National Conference of Catholic Bishops by the bishops’ Committee on Pastoral Research and Practices. Included in the papers studied by the Anglican-Roman Catholic Commission on the Ordination of Women, with the protocol ARCCOW 5A.

This was the principal official Roman Catholic position statement that the Episcopal Church had, in addition to the letters of Pope Paul VI, prior to its 1976 General Convention when the vote to ordain women was passed. This document was circulated as part of a dossier attached to ARCIC II-58-1.
