The General Synod of the Church of England met in February 1979. GS 394 was drafted by the Faith and Order Advisory Group as a response from the Church of England to the three ARCIC agreed statements. The debate was held on 22 Feb. 1979.

This document also contains a statement (pp. 5-6) from the Archbishop of Canterbury on the ordination of women.
