Sr Dr Lorelei F. Fuchs, SA
1950-2021

Sister Dr. Lorelei Fuchs, SA (1950–2021), a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, was a leading Roman Catholic theologian in the field of ecumenism. She earned her M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame and later completed her Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) and Ph.D. in Sacred Theology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Her doctoral work, Koinonia and the Quest for an Ecumenical Ecclesiology, became a key resource in ecumenical studies. Sr. Lorelei served on numerous ecumenical bodies, including the World Council of Churches’ Faith and Order Commission, the Methodist–Roman Catholic International Commission, the Lutheran–Anglican–Roman Catholic dialogue in the U.S., and the National Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission. She was also Associate Director of the Graymoor Ecumenical and Interreligious Institute and a long-time editor of Ecumenical Trends.
