When the General Synod and its BMU was established in 1970, the Church of England’s Council on Foreign Relations was re-constituted as the Counsellors for Foreign Relations (1972-1981) and then absorbed by Lambeth Palace.

The archives of the CFR and its predecessor are held in the Lambeth Palace Library.
