Born 1936. Educated at Marlborough, Queens’ College, Cambridge, Westcott House, Cambridge, and the University of Utrecht. Ordained deacon in 1963, priest in 1964, and bishop in 1981. Tutor at Cuddesdon College from 1963-1967; Fellow and Dean of Clare College, Cambridge from 1967-1972 and Tutor from 1968-1972; Principal of Westcott House, Cambridge from 1973-1981; Honorary Canon of Winchester Cathedral from 1978-1981; Area Bishop of Kensington in the Diocese of London from 1981-1987; Bishop of Birmingham from 1987-2002; retired 2002, died 14 August 2024.
